Janice Marie Holder

Janice Deans Holder, 75, of Durham, passed away April 25, 2026, at Duke University Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Wake County on February 23, 1951, to the late William McKay Nowell and Jean Deans Nowell.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holder was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert “Bobby” Holder; her brothers, Luther Deans and William Nowell.

Mrs. Holder is survived by her daughters, Donna Holder McClure (Mike, Sr.) of Durham, Stephanie Holder Barker (Tracy) of Franklinton; brother, Johnny Nowell (Monica) of Raleigh; sisters, Vicky Campbell (Jim) of Clayton, Rebecca Carroll (Anthony) of Garner and Belinda Dudley (Woody) of Hillsborough; grandchildren, Mike McClure, Jr. (Whitney), Hunter McClure (Ry’ane), TJ Barker (Sydney), Justin Barker (Courtney), Chance McClure (Angela) and Miranda Greenway (Austin); great grandchildren, Branden, Brayden, Katie, Gideon, Weston, Roman, Jenna, Keirstin, Averi, Emory, Lukas, and Jaxon.

Janice enjoyed her time working at the farmers’ market with her friends, Margaret, Mrs. Bobbi, and Jerry. She was adored by so many loyal customers over the years. She enjoyed her time working with providers Perry Lowe, Steven Green, and Jim Warrenda, as well as their families and employees. She enjoyed spending her free time with her family, friends and her sweet chunky dog, Chico. She sure enjoyed those Chocolate cake pops from Starbucks.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday April 29, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Officiating will be Reverend Josh Mickle and Pastor Wesley Holder.

Burial will follow at the Holder Family Cemetery on Broach Road in Durham.

Pallbearers will be Mike McClure, Jr., TJ Barker, Justin Barker, Hunter McClure, Chance McClure, and Austin Greenway.

Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made in Janice’s memory St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
