Jane Elizabeth Lee Johnson, 81, of Durham, North Carolina went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 1, 2026. She was born on October 3, 1944 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late John R Lee and Betty Pearl Lee.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Lewis Lee and Johnny Lee.
Mrs. Johnson worked in the banking industry then went to Burroughs Wellcome Pharmaceuticals where she worked for over 9 years. In 1996 she went to MeadWestvaco as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement in 2005.
Jane was most of all a faithful Christian to her Lord serving alongside her husband, Rev. Fred Johnson, for over 54 years of pastoral service. She served by playing the piano and singing as well as working in many other areas of the churches where they ministered.
Mrs. Johnson enjoyed working in the yard, reading, playing the piano, singing and most of all spending time with her family. Jane will be remembered as a selfless and caring person who always put others before herself. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister that will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Rev. Fred Johnson, whom she married on November 3, 1962; her sons James Johnson (Wendy), Keith Johnson (Debbie) and Craig Johnson (Jennifer); brothers Danny Lee (Faye) and Stephen Lee (Tina); grandchildren, Michelle J. Pope, Kristie J. McCullen (Clint), Kaleb Johnson, Britni Johnson and Bobby Cash (Ashley); 9 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson and other loving family and friends.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham, NC. Rev. Tim McCreight will officiate.
Serving as Pallbearers will be her sons James, Keith and Craig, along with Kaleb Johnson, Bobby Cash, Clint McCullen and Carey Johnson.
Prior to the graveside service the family will receive friends at Hudson Funeral Home from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
