Ida Florence Jenkins

Ida Langdon “Tootsie” Jenkins, 92, born January 8, 1934, in Morrisville, NC, to the late Charlie and Bertie King Langdon, passed away June 22, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family.

In addition to her parents, Tootsie was predeceased by her husband, Gene “The Collard Man” Jenkins; her brothers, Worth, Willie, Durwood, Charlie (CJ), and JW Langdon; and her beloved cat, Jack.

“Tootsie,” as she was known to everyone, was the youngest of six children and the only girl. She worked at Liggett & Myers for 15 years before starting their family and deciding to become a stay-at-home mom. She was known for her cold oven pound cakes. Tootsie loved gardening, mowing grass, and especially taking care of her family. She was especially proud to be called “Memaw” by her granddaughter, Langdon, and all of the other children who loved her.

She is survived by her son, Greg Jenkins (Kim); granddaughter, Langdon Jenkins, daughter, Cindy Jenkins (Steven Strickland); sisters, Joan Fox and Joyce Sosnowski (Bob); special family members, Reggie Johnson, Katrina Johnson, Mike Amidon, and Julissa Harrison; several nieces and nephews, and her fur buddy cats, Boo and Roxy.

Pallbearers will be Mike Jones, Tony Smith, Mike Langdon, Billy Langdon, Todd Langdon, Keith Langdon, Craig Land, and Dr. Jim Eaker.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Lowes Grove Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be Reverend John Madren, Reverend Mike Clark, and Reverend John McGuire. Burial will follow at Lowes Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
