Hazel Rich Newton

DURHAM Mrs. Hazel Rich Newton, 90, of Durham, died on Sunday, February 3, 2013.Mrs. Newton was born in Wake County to the late Tommie and Sarah Hopson Rich. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC. She was a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Guy Phillips and Linwood Newton and her brothers, Clifton, Alton, Jessie Claborn, and Archie Rich and three sisters, Ollie, Polly and Pearl Rich.She is survived by several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Dr. Gerald Goodwin. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 to 2 pm, before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
