George William Barker

DURHAM Mr. George William Barker, 79, of Durham, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017.

Mr. Barker was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late George Russell Barker and Willie Mae Beck Barker. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a retired Deputy with the Durham County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Barker was a member of the Elks Lodge #2005 of Roxboro. He enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Katie Yarborough Barker; two daughters, Kimberly Westbrooks (Scott) of Roxboro and Elizabeth Deaver of Clayton; grandchildren, Tina Sanford (Scott) of Roxboro, Andrew Simmons of Durham, Justin Deaver of Clayton and Noah Wilkins of Roxboro; great-grandchildren, Kendra Talley and Isaac Sanford both of Roxboro.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
