Frances Tyndall Young

Frances Tyndall Young (97) passed away peacefully Thursday February 26, 2026 at the home of her son. She was born April 16, 1928 to the late Stella and Redin Tyndall. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years William Young Sr.; daughter Patricia Clayton; brother James Tyndall; sister Ruby Olson.

She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Harrison; sons William Young Jr., Ernest Young, and Wayne Young; grandson Michael Stephens (Sally); granddaughters Tracey Harrison (Mike Chisenhall) and Alissa Barnard (Dakota); great grandson Gabriel Mullins; great granddaughters Michaela Chisenhall and Willow Barnard.

Frances was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina. She was the middle child of three siblings. She worked for many years in the manufacturing industry for Durham Hosiery Mill before retiring early and becoming a homemaker. In the late 60’s and early 70’s she and her husband were leaders in the local Cub Scouts. In the 70’s the family spent weekends at Kerr Lake swimming and boating. They started out tent camping, quickly progressed to a pop-up camper, then travel trailer, and finally a mobile home on a leased lot. In 1992 she and her husband purchased a second home on Emerald Isle in North Carolina where they spent the remainder of their retirement years.

As a faithful believer who loved the Lord, we know that Frances was greeted by her loving husband, daughter, parents, brother and sister as she entered Heaven with the sunrise.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home in Durham.                    A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 3712 Cheek Road, Durham, NC.

Flowers are acceptable.
