Frances Baker Smith

DURHAM Frances Baker Smith, 79, of 2732 Mansfield Ave., died at the Hock Family Pavilion on Sunday, January 1, 2012. Mrs. Smith was born in Harnett County to the late Vernon Baker and Alice Ashworth Baker. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Bethel Christian Center. She enjoyed crocheting and being involved with the card ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Foster Smith and a daughter, Dollie Ann Dudley. She is survived by three daughters, Betty Marie Mathis of Durham, Barbara Smith Wagner of Jacksonville, Fla. and Linda Smith Wilkins of Durham; one brother, Wade Baker of Durham; one sister, Elizabeth Cooke of Durham; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Bethel Christian Center, officiated by Pastor Don Westbrook. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her grandson, Derrick Wilkins, 2604 Cooksbury Drive. Flowers are acceptable.
