Evelyn Tunstall Eakes

EAKESDURHAM Mrs. Evelyn Tunstall Eakes, 89, died on Thursday, May 12, 2011.Mrs. Eakes was a native of Granville County, the daughter of the late William O. Tunstall and Mittie Clayton Tunstall. She retired from the City of Durham as a secretary in the Water and Sewer Maintenance Department. She is survived by her son, Odis Eakes Jr. and wife, Gracie of Cary; one daughter, Marie Hobbs and husband, Cecil of Wilmington; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Andy Brown. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m., before the service at the funeral home.
