Emma Glenn Kerr, 88, of Hillsborough, passed away May 11, 2026, at Pruitt Health in Durham. Mrs. Kerr was born in Durham County on April 12, 1938, to the late Tommy Glenn and Margie Brown Hargis.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kerr is preceded in death by her husband, David A. “Jimmy” Kerr.
Mrs. Kerr is survived by her sons Larry Kerr (Gayle) of Alabaster, AL, David W. Kerr (Rebecca) of Hillsborough; daughters, Louise K. Nobbs and Linda K. Spruill both of Hillsborough; brothers, Charles Glenn (Darlene) of Durham, Ray Glenn of Stem and Ricky Glenn of Creedmoor; 8 grandchildren, Ronnie Brown (Mary Beth), David Kerr (Nicole), Roy Kerr, Jenn Di Sessa (Pete), Jimmy Brown, Amber Spruill (Brandon), Chris Kerr (Meagan), Jeffery Kerr (Susie); and 17 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Kerr owned and operated a children’s daycare in her home for more than 50 years. She loved to read all kinds of books, but her favorite author was James Patterson. She read her Bible daily, as well as Guideposts publications. She also loved trips to White Lake with family and friends.
Mrs. Kerr enjoyed flowers, especially Violets and other purple flowers.
A Graveside Service is planned for Tuesday, May 19, 2026 to be held 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park on Liberty Street in Durham. Rev. Hugh O'Shields will be officiating.
Flowers are acceptable or you may donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.
