Eloise Owens Smith

Eloise Owens Smith, 81, of Durham, passed away Wednesday December 18, 2024, at Wake Medical Center.

Mrs. Smith was born January 26, 1943, in New Hanover County, North Carolina to the late Burley Floyd Owens and Leone Prevatt Owens.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son James Ray Smith; brother, Floyd Owens; and sister, Betty Jo Wilkins.

Mrs., Smith was a member of the Old Fashion Tabernacle Baptist Church for many years. She loved her family dearly, eating oyster stew, and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed working in her yard and help others when she could. 

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband Billy Ray Smith; son, Jerry Smith (Maria) of Durham; daughter Carolyn Smith (Paul Scott); granddaughter, Jennifer Smith; great granddaughter, Baleigh Rimele; sister, Bobbie J. Rivera; several nieces and nephews, and pet companion, Lillie.

A visitation will be held Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1:45 p.m. at Old Fashioned Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1124 Wrenn Road, Durham, NC.

Committal service and Interment will be Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Suggs, Ricky Glenn, Billy Marshall and Nick Ramos.

Flowers are acceptable.
