Elizabeth Barnes Nowaski

DURHAM Mrs. Elizabeth Barnes Nowaski, 90, formerly of 208 Monticello Ave., died on Sunday, September 11, 2011. She retired from the American Tobacco Company. Mrs. Nowaski was well known for her culinary expertise in cake decorating and wedding cakes. She attended the Immaculate Conception Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Leonard Nowaski and her nephew, Tommy Barnes.She is survived by her niece Patricia Bills, cousins, John and Stokes Barnes, Simon S. Barnes and Ed Cook; sister-in-law, Lyda Barnes; great-nieces, Jennifer Barnes Synder, Stacy Leggins Gantt and Nikki Leggins Gant; Mary Mebane and her close friend and caregiver, Donnie Ann.A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Maplewood Cemetery.
