DURHAM- Mr. Edwin Randall Strickland relocated to heaven on June 30, 2022, surrounded by his daughters. Edwin was born on September 11, 1942 to Ruth Carolyn Gravitte and Woodson Randall Glasscock. He was a 1960 graduate of Stem High School. After graduation, Ed served in the Army Reserve. He graduated from the Nashville Automotive-Diesel College specializing in Automotive/Diesel Technology and Welding to include Metal/Steel fabrication), ASME master welder certification . He started his own business; Arc Welding and Fabricating Company, where he pioneered construction for self-contained septic systems. Ed was known for being strong (still swinging an ax just months prior), hard-working, meticulous about his work, frugal and loyal. He enjoyed spending time at the lake with family and friends and he loved vintage cars, mashed potatoes and sweet tea!
He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Menda Carol Reeves Strickland, their twin sons John Randall and Edwin Ronald, parents, Clyde and Carolyn Strickland and brother Roger V. Strickland.
Edwin is survived by his daughters; Wendi Strickland Austin (Alan) of Creedmoor, Amy Renee Strickland of the home, Tami Strickland Brock (Alan) of Greenville, Sandy Kaye Shaw (Ryan) of Durham and grandchildren; Calan Austin, Carli Austin, Parker Brock, Collin Brock, River Shaw, Raelyn Shaw, Great Granddaughter, Lilli Gill, brothers Allan W. Strickland (Fran) and Jimmy Strickland (Rosemary), Douglas Strickland (Debbie), and sister, Valinda Kaye Barber (James).
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022, 4:00pm, at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive guests immediately following the service. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or donations made to Duke Home Care and Hospice.
