DURHAM- Mr. Edwin “Ed” Leon Eubanks, Sr., 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 9, 2021. Ed was born March 2, 1932, to the late John and Eula Eubanks.
Edwin loved the Lord and enjoyed fellowship at Sherron Acres Free Will Baptist Church, with his pastor Fred Johnson. He was a member of Durham Masonic Lodge 352. During his early work career, Ed started at Erwin Cotton mills as a loom fixer and became a roofer at Pope Roofing. He later became an HVAC technician, from which he retired after 22 years at Duke Engineering and Operating.
Edwin was known to many as “Pop.” Back in the days, you could find Pop on a softball field pitching fast pitch softball. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and growing bumper garden crops, which he shared with everyone.
He loved his family and companion dog “Little Dub,” and they will all miss him, until they meet again.
In addition to his parents, Edwin was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Delores Mae Thomas; brothers, James Eubanks, John Eubanks, and Vernon Eubanks; and sisters, Mildred Carthen and Iris Pope.
Edwin is survived by his sons, Edwin L. Eubanks, Jr. (Carol) and Guy Eubanks (Debbie); daughters, Pam Temple (Denny) and Kim Perry (Martin); brother, William “Bill” Eubanks; grandchildren, Eddie Eubanks, III (Renee), Leann Oakley (Will), Jack Temple (Rebekah), Jon Temple (Adrienne), Jared Temple (April), Ashely Thomas (Jay), Melissa Dawn Eubanks, Brad Perry (Whitney), Amanda Perry, Joni Whitt (Shawn), and Jessi Gray; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Eddie Eubanks, III, Jack Temple, Jon Temple, Jared Temple, Brad Perry, and Will Oakley. Serving as an Honorary Pallbearer will be Andrew Oakley.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Fred Johnson. A visitation will be held an hour prior from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
