DURHAM-Mrs. Edna Ida Mitchell, 81, of 617 Hazelwood Dr. died on Friday, May 20, 2011. She was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Augustus Goss and Lorena McGhee Goss. She retired from Liggett & Myers, and was a member of Wakeminster Baptist Church. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Roland Mitchell; 1 son, Edward J. Mitchell; 3 brothers, Nick, Mac & Bobby Goss. She is survived by 1 son, Robert C. Mitchell of Butner; 4 daughters, Patricia King of Durham; Teresa George of Durham; Dianna Peach of Apex; and Lorena Hunt of Raleigh; 1 brother, Augustus Goss Jr. of Durham; 2 sisters, Flora Mae Carver of Durham; Merita Clegg of Durham; 7 grandchildren, Karen Knight, Jennifer James, Christopher Alford, Shelly King, Jonathan Mitchell, David Peach and Dawn Mitchell; 4 great-grandchildren, Mindy Knight, Brittany Knight, Leigh James, and Hailey Knight, 1 great-great grandchild, Jaden Knight. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Wakeminster Baptist Church. Rev. Merle Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
