Earlie "Bud" Critcher, Jr.

Bud, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, son  and cherished friend, peacefully passed away at home on October 22, 2023.  He was 70 years old, a lifelong native of Durham NC.  He was born September 1, 1953 to the late Earlie and Margaret McGee Critcher Webb (Thad).

Bud served 6 years in the Army National Guard.  He retired from the American Tobacco Company after 20 years.  After retirement he became the owner/operator of Bud’s Mobile Wash serving Durham and surrounding counties.

Bud is survived by his daughter, Jodie Edwards (Butch), step son, Forrest Steele (Jennifer), his “other daughter” Angi Fowler (Shane), sister Judy Jones (Steve), step father Thad Webb; grandchildren Chase Edwards, Chesney Edwards, Cullen Edwards and his step grandchildren Jaylen Wells (David) and BJ Edwards; niece Kimberly Edmiston (Armando); great niece Mia Edmiston and other family and countless friends who meant the world to him.

A man of simple pleasures, Bud found immense joy in the comforts of his home, the serenity of the lake, the sizzle of the grill, and the laughter of his friends and family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Bud had an exceptional gift for fostering friendships. He treasured the moments spent with his friends, sharing in their joys, and offering unwavering support in times of need. His loyalty and kindness endeared him to all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Family was at the center of Bud’s life. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and son. He was the source of strength and wisdom. His daughter Jodie and his grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy.

 He leaves behind a treasure trove of memories that will continue to warm their  hearts.  The bond he shared with those he loved was unbreakable, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

A celebration of Bud’ s life will be held at Olive Branch Baptist Church, 123 Olive Branch Rd Durham, NC on Wednesday October 25th at 11:00 A.M.  The Rev. Tim Wheeler will be officiating.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

Bud may no longer be with us, but the love, laughter, and friendships he shared will endure. He was a beacon of light in the lives of many, and his spirit will continue to shine in our hearts.
