Douglas Sikes

In loving memory of Douglas R. Sikes, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 25, 2024. 

Born May 30, 1941, to Louis and Nita Sikes, Doug was a dedicated husband to his beloved wife Betsy Ann Julier Sikes for 50 years and a loving father to son Jay Sikes. As a skilled plumber & pip-fitter, he worked at the V.A. Hospital for 33 years, 25 years as a supervisor. Doug had a passion for cars and could often be found tinkering in his garage, enjoying the satisfaction of repairing and restoring vehicles.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Barbara Sikes Sharon, and several aunts and uncles.   He is survived by his son Jay Sikes (Amy), three grandchildren, Emmy, Holden, and Sophie, sister Sally Sikes Hunt, and brother Robert Louis Sikes, and several beloved brothers and sisters-in laws and nieces and nephews.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Aurthur Daniel, David Hunt, Robert Lloyd, Frank Rich, Paul Strickland, and Steven Strickland.

The family will receive friends at Hudson Funeral Home  211 S. Miami Blvd NC, on May 1, 2024 from 12pm to 1:45pm, followed by a grave-side service at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
