Doris Naylor Parsons passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 23, 2025. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley E. and Ida Margaret Naylor, her brothers, Elbert Naylor, Earl Naylor, and Odell Naylor, her husband of almost 60 years, William “Dub” Parsons, and their daughter Ann P. Eaton, (Bill) of Clinton, NC. Doris is survived by her daughter, Faye P. Green of Stem, NC; her son, Gene Parsons (Pam) of Clinton, NC; her sister, Dorothy Biggs (Art) of SC; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous special, favorite nieces and nephews.
Doris was born in Sampson County to her late parents. She grew up, as she would tell you, moving around to live and farm many different tenant farms in Sampson County. All of the family worked hard, and she would tell you they never needed to take a thing to help them sleep at night. Even though tenant farming was hard work, Doris always remembered those days as the good old days, living and working together as a family. She remembered often seeing her Mother in the yard choosing a chicken that would end up on the supper table, something she could never make herself eat during her lifetime after that. She lovingly remembered her father kicking the tractor tires too, while trying to get some needed repairs done.
Doris retired from GTE after 27 years of service. She then worked several more years at the EPA.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to an Animal Control Shelter near you, or specifically a haven for cats. Doris prayed every night for animals left outside. She is now reunited with her “Buddy Sunshine”.
A graveside service will be held on Monday July 28, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Chatham County.
