Donnie Mayo Batten

DURHAM Mr. Donnie Mayo Batten, 74, a former resident of Durham, died on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. He had lived in Cary for the past 5 years.
Mr. Batten was a native of Durham, the son of the late Lonnie Batten and Ollie Mae Moore Batten. He retired from Airborne Freight Corp. as a station manager. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beth Thomas Batten; two sons, Jason Batten and fiancée, Chrisy Tellis of Cary and Chuck Batten II and wife, Wendy of Durham; one daughter, Sharyn Batten of Cary; brothers, Jack Batten of Bracey, Va., Erwin Batten and wife, Matilda of Timberlake; two sisters, Ramona Rauschert of Durham, Catherine Bailey and husband, Joe of Texas; three grandchildren, Brandy Woodall, Nicholas Batten and Lucas Batten; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Bennett, Mary Lee Batten and Francis Batten.
A chapel memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to American Diabetes Association of N.C., 2418 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 206, Raleigh, NC 27607.
