Donald "Don" Christian

Donald “Don” Joseph Christian, 68, late of Sunset Beach, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on October 21, 2023 from the LifeCare Hospice Center in Whiteville following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

The son of the late Donald Carr Christian and Dorothy Griffin Christian, Don was born in Durham on March 11, 1955.  He received his degree in History from East Carolina University, followed by his Masters of Divinity, Masters of Theology, and Doctorate of Ministry from Southeastern Theological Seminary.  Don served as a pastor for more than 30 years, leading souls to Christ and shepherding churches across North Carolina and Virginia, including Berea Baptist Church in Durham, St. John’s Baptist Church near Ahoskie, Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, Moffet Memorial Baptist Church in Danville (VA), First Baptist Church of Spindale, and First Baptist Church of Richlands.

Don is predeceased by his father, Don C. Christian; his wife, Brenda Dean Christian; and brothers, Kenneth Griffin Christian and Steven Lee Christian.  He is survived by his sons, Donald Brandon Christian and Bradley Joseph Christian (Rachel); his mother, Dorothy, his grandchildren, Daniel and Sara, and his fiancée Carol Ann Schmidt.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Brandon Christian and Dr. Aubrey Jones.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Eddie Kirk, Ronald Winstead, Todd Lantz, Sam Dempsey, Phil Garner, and Arthur Daniels.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Jim Bradshaw.

Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham.
