Danny McDuffie

Danny McDuffie, 75, passed away peacefully, February 3, 2024, at Duke University Hospital. 

Danny was born on May 7, 1948, in Pikeville, Kentucky. He resided in Durham for the last 60 years.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents William McDuffie and Wanda Vanover McDuffie, and brother, Eddie McDuffie. 

Danny is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Judy McDuffie; daughter, Denise McDuffie and son, James McDuffie (Davinna); brother, Mike McDuffie; sisters, Debbie Worley, and Gail Epperson. He leaves behind a large host of friends and family members that he lovingly treasured.

Danny worked at the Durham Fire Department for 26 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He was 30-year member of the Sons of the American Legion and was most recently recognized for 50 years as a Master Mason of Eno Lodge No. 210. Family was the most important part of his life. He enjoyed life to the fullest, always the life of the party wherever he went, laughing and telling jokes. He loved spending time at the beach with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, raking oysters and clams. Danny had a heart of gold and would help anyone out if he could.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm at Hudson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Hudson Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. 

The pallbearers will be Mike Alford, Steve Alford, Randy Alford, Glen “Catfish” Elliott, Earl Barnett, and Gary Kyles. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scrapper Pate, Jim Goodman, Members of SAL Post 7, and Durham Firefighters.

Flowers are acceptable and memorial contributions can be made in his name to the St. Jude Children Research Hospital or Oxford Orphanage.
