Cynthia Leigh Knott

Cindy Knott, 65, of Durham, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. She was born in Durham, NC on May 30, 1960, to the late Walter and Ruth Day.

Mrs. Knott began her career in the Durham Public schools and went on to retire as Cafeteria Manager in the Wake County Public School System.

Cindy loved to cook and especially for the holidays. Her Brunswick Stew and Chili were second to none. She dearly loved her husband, Tommy and was very passionate about her dogs, taking great care of them.

Mrs. Knott will be remembered as a sweet, loving, and caring woman who could be feisty, when necessary. She did not have a pretentious bone in her body, never met a stranger and shared her quick wit with a lot of humor. She will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to have known her.

Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Thomas Knott; brother, Jackie Day (Cindy); sister, Judi Neal; sister-in-law, Joyce Shannon (Tommy); brother-in-law, Bruce Knott (Janet); nieces, Angela Neal, Jamie Wall (Harvey), Megan Sorrell (Michael), Kelly Strickland (Paul) and Tracy Hayes (Patrick); great nieces, Jordan Reagan, Carson Wilson (Eli), Madelynn Wall, Sophie Sorrell, and Taylor Kight (John); great nephews, Cruz Wall, Mitchell Sorrell, Cole Scearce, Ryan Strickland, Ryder Strickland, Logan Hayes, Tristan Hayes, Preston Hayes, and Dalton Hayes; loving dogs, Nessie, Cody and Chester and other loving friends.

Services are currently pending.
