Creedmoor

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Connie Rae Wooten, who passed away on 04/17/2026 at the age of 60. Connie was born on March 20, 1966, in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.

Connie was one of six siblings and lived a life centered around family, love, and bringing people together. She was a devoted mother to four sons and a proud grandmother to five grandchildren, with one more on the way.

To know Connie was to love her. She was smart, affectionate, beautiful, and deeply caring. She was the rock—more so the glue—of her family. No matter how busy life became or how far apart people drifted, it was Connie’s gatherings that brought everyone back together.

No matter how busy life became or how much distance separated family and friends, Connie was always the one who brought everyone back together. Her gatherings served as a comforting reminder of the importance of connection, creating cherished memories and fostering a sense of belonging among all who attended.

She had a passion for cooking and took pride in keeping a clean and welcoming home. Connie enjoyed playing cards and gambling, and she loved spending time with her boys and her grandchildren. She was a strong and vibrant woman—a force to be reckoned with—whose expressions always told the truth. She was a fierce protector of those she loved and lived her life with confidence and without shame.

Connie also had a love for singing and a natural gift for creating beauty, whether in a home or a yard. She truly had a green thumb and a talent for making any space feel special.

Throughout her life, Connie worked in customer service and environmental service roles, and she dedicated time to helping others through long-term home health care for families across Durham, Wake, and Granville County.

She is survived by her loving mother, Gertie McKee; her sons, Randy Young, Justin Shepard, Michael Oakley, and Kyle Wooten; her brothers, Larry Young and Richie Young; and her sister, Wendy Young.

She was preceded in death by her father, Milton Young; her sisters, Tammy McGee, Jenny Snotherly, and Cynthia Young; and her husband, James Wooten.

Connie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, strength, and bringing people together will live on through her family for generations to come.

Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703. Pastor Randy Youmans will officiate.
