Clarice Maxine Blake

Clarice Maxine Bayless Blake, 101, widow of Edward Ray Blake Sr., passed away in Durham, NC, on October 10, 2014, after a short illness. She was born on July 4, 1913 in Huntington, WV, the daughter of James Lee and Maggie Bayless. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Ray Blake, Jr., and a daughter, Mary Lou Aldridge Shy. Maxine was a Stephen Minister, a devout Methodist and loved God. She took up white water rafting at age 76, karate at age 80 and made a mission trip to Nicaragua at age 92. She is survived by her younger brother, Joe (Betty) Bayless of Moline, IL; a daughter, Kenidee Blake of Raleigh, NC; grandsons Blake Edward (Angela) Aldridge of Nashville, TN, and Edward Ray Blake III, of Huntington, WV; a niece, Linda Kay (Ernie) Arvizu of Phoenix, AZ, and two nephews, Russ (Barbara) Bayless of Huntington, WV and George Alan Hodges of San Diego,Cal. Visitation will be held Friday, October 17, at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel at Ridgelawn Cemetery on West Pea Ridge Road and Route 60 in Barboursville. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Duke Hospice at 4321 Medical Park Drive, Ste. 101, Durham, NC 27704.
