Charlotte Faye Payne

Charlotte Faye Payne, 62, of Roxboro, NC passed away December 25, 2025 at Person Memorial Hospital. She was born in Endicott, New York on December 5, 1963, the daughter of the late Richard and Bernice Payne. Charlotte always had a smile on her face; her giggle was infectious and she loved being around family. A Celebration of her Life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 11:00 am at Yates Baptist Church, 2819 Chapel Hill Road, Durham, NC. A gathering will follow in the Family Life Center.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Richard and Bernice Payne, and her brothers, Douglas Olson and Thomas Payne. She is survived by her sister, Jacqueline Olson Arn of Columbus, OH, and her brother, Kermit Payne, of Winston-Salem, NC, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Beginning in 1989 and continuing for 35 years, Charlotte lived in and was lovingly cared for in a group home run by the Durham County Community Living Program (DCCLP). It was one of the best decisions Charlotte’s parents made regarding her long-term care. They have been an amazing family and support system for her. We thank them for everything they have done for her and for other individuals with developmental disabilities.

When Charlotte needed additional care due to her developing dementia she spent the last 18 months of her life with Person County Group Homes, Inc. (PCGH). Everyone in that program welcomed and cared for Charlotte and became family as well. We cannot thank them enough for the care and love she received at their hands.
