Charlie Barnes Fergerson

DURHAM- Mr. Charlie Barnes Fergerson, 87, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019.
Mr. Fergerson was born on April 23, 1932 to John and Florence Fergerson in Franklin County, NC. Charlie retired after 10 years with Canteen Corporation as a service technician. He was a member of Plainview Baptist Church, which he loved very much. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed restoring Mustangs. Charlie liked to garden and was known for his tomatoes. He loved his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his son-in-law and daughter-in-law. Charlie will be remembered as an honest man, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Mr. Fergerson is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and Bervin Fergerson; and sister, Jackie Allen. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Merle Fergerson; children, Debbie Stephens (Mike), and Steve C. Fergerson (Karen); brother, Samuel Fergerson; sisters, Dorothy Cooke (Maylon), Bonnie Wood, Mae Finch, and Peggy Brantley (Ricky); grandchildren, Alyson Weimar (Ben), Daniel Stephens, Kara Davis (Josh), and Kyle Fergerson; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous loving family members.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Plainview Baptist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Doug Nalley. Pallbearers will be George Woods, Rick Pareis, David Pennell, Brian Smith, Tony Prignano and Jasper Taylor. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The committal service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Harris Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Youngsville, NC.
