Cecil Vaughan

DURHAM- Mr. Cecil George Thomas Vaughan, 87, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020.
Mr. Vaughan was born on March 11, 1932 to Lonnie and Gladys Vaughan in Vance County, NC. He was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School. He loved to bake sweets and enjoyed playing golf. He loved his birds and called them his dependents. Cecil will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Mr. Vaughan was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Gladys Vaughan; daughter, Brenda Dry; brother, Lawrence Vaughan; and grandson, Brian Dry. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Breeze Vaughan; daughters, Deborah Vaughan of Wilmington, NC, Donna Davenport (Rusty) of Hillsborough, NC, and Melissa Childers (Marty) of Hillsborough, NC; sister, Joyce Shepherd of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren, Shane Wilson, Melanie Duke, Jessica Knapp, Jennifer Thompson, Christopher Vaughan, Drew Davenport, Jeremy Childers, and Caleb Childers; great-grandchildren, Penny Lynn Bass-Wilson, Vaughan Wilson, Adam Jones, Tyler Knapp, Nicholas Dry, Jackson Dry, Millie Thompson, Brayden Thompson, Cecil Thompson, Elijah Childers, Judah Childers, Joaquin Childers, and Norah Childers.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Durham Memorial Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Reverend Ed Denton and Dr. Reverend Goodwin.
