Carolyn Stone Briggs

Carolyn Stone Briggs, 71, of Durham, NC passed away on July 16, 2026, in Beaufort, NC. Mrs. Briggs was born December 11, 1954, in Durham to the late Claborne Carr “Pete” and Helen Guthrie Stone.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two brothers, Bill Stone and Randy Stone.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Briggs Waddell (Jeremy) of Newport, NC; grandchildren, Sidney Inscoe and Brody Waddell; brother Kenny Stone (Becky); sister-in-law Teresa Stone.

Despite her 20 month battle with cancer, she always kept a positive attitude. When asked how she was doing, her answer was always “I’m blessed” and “I’m OK”. She always found joy in taking care of others, and even while undergoing chemotherapy, she continued to run errands and get groceries for her friends in need.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday July 21, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Reverend Hugh O’Shields.
