Mr. Calvin Cecil Council, 87 of Oxford, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2011.Mr. Council was a native of Chatham County, the son of the late John and Calloway Corine McGhee Council. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He was a member of Lowes Grove Baptist Church.He is survived by his wife, Helen Council, one son, Paul Wright Council of Oxford, one daughter, Fannie Strickland of Oxford; one brother, James Council of Durham; 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Lowes Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Forest Gale.Burial will be in the church cemetery.
