DURHAM- Mrs. Bonita Williams Matherly, 79, passed away on, August 16, 2021, peacefully at home.
Mrs. Matherly was born November 9, 1941 to the late Walter and Gladys Williams. Bonita worked as a Senior Executive Leader with Avon for 28 years. She loved being a part of a community that made life beautiful. She was a feisty and strong woman who survived having polio in 1945. Bonita enjoyed boating, especially traveling on cruise ships. She will be remembered as being family oriented, a dog lover, having a big heart, and always willing to give.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Matherly is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Sidney Matherly; brothers, Donald and Phillip Williams; and sister, Trudy Brunner Sharpe.
Bonita is survived by her daughters, Teresa Elliot (Skip) of Timberlake, NC, Juanita Matherly of Durham, NC, Tina Landrum of Alabama, and Salina Matherly, (Walter Greenhill); brother, Wayne Williams; and her loving grandchildren, Michael Williams, Melonie Bradshaw, Nate Greenhill, and Amber Glasscock.
A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, August 20, 2021 at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor David Trump. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
