Bobby Ray Loftin

Mr. Bobby Ray Loftin, 63, passed away March 26, 2023. 

Bobby was born August 3, 1959, in Kinston, NC, to Mr. Roscoe Loftin and the late Hazel Cox Loftin.  

Bobby was a 1977 graduate of Hillside High School in Durham NC. Upon graduation he entered the United States Army where he served from 1977-1982. He has been employed for over 20 years with UNC Chapel Hill as a lead maintenance engineer in the Department of Comparative Medicine. 

Bobby was passionate about nature. He loved to ride his motorcycle and was a huge supporter of charity rides.  Bobby was a lover of both the beach and the mountains. He always looked forward to his annual trip to “the swamp” (Merchant’s Millpond in Gatesville NC) with his devoted swamp buddies. 

Bobby is survived by his father, Roscoe Loftin; son, Dylan Ray Loftin; daughter, Ashely Powell; sisters, Debby Allen (Kirby), Donna Loftin, Jean Loftin Dickens (Kevin); grandchildren, Charles, Chief, and Wednesday; nephews, Randy Allen (Nikki), Rik Allen (Lydia), Justin Fletcher (Linda); great nephew, Garret Allen and great niece, MacKenzie Allen. Bobby also leaves behind the love of his life, Dana Webb Perry; best friend Raybo Nickerson, and his faithful dog Grizzly. 

A gathering in memory of Bobby will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Hudson Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to: The Bikers and Needy Children Foundation. Bobby was a lifetime member of the foundation, and this cause is near and dear to his heart. (thebikersandneedychildrenfoundation.org)
