Betty Jean Sherron Glenn, 91, of Durham, passed away on January 14, 2026, at her residence. Mrs. Glenn was born in Durham on January 8, 1935, to the late Marvin Simeon and Maggie Crabtree Sherron.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Glenn is preceded in death by her husband, Coy Marshall Glenn; daughter, Deborah Jean “Debbie” Glenn and a sister, Barbara Goss.
Mrs. Glenn is survived by her son Carl Wesley “Wally” Glenn and wife Gail of Rougemont, NC; brother, Marvin Sherron and wife Virginia of Carolina Shores, NC; sister, Joyce Agner of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Richard Shane Wheeler and wife Amanda, Stephanie Holland and husband Russell, Kelly Wells and husband, Jamie; great-grandchildren, Dakota Pierce and wife Hayley, Hali Wheeler, Troy Holland, Madison Wells, Brayden Clemmons and Garrison Vollers.
Mrs. Glenn worked for 14 years as a “Catcher” at Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company. She was also employed by Montgomery Aldridge in Durham and later retired from Nortel in 1996. She dearly loved her family and cherished spending time with them. She enjoyed trips to both the mountains and the beach. Mrs. Glenn was a devoted NASCAR fan, especially cheering for her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. She was also an avid Duke basketball fan and supported the Kansas City Chiefs. A wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was the family’s talented seamstress, a role that kept her busy along with her love of flower gardening.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be the Reverend Anthony Clemmons.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made in Mrs. Glenn's memory to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
Family and friends are welcome to gather at Mrs. Glenn’s residence after the service.
