DURHAM- Mrs. Becky Ann Scaggs, 83, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.
Mrs. Scaggs was born on October 2, 1937 to Herbert and Eliza Mae Casto in Fairplain, WV. Mrs. Scaggs was proud of her career as a nurse. She was a graduate of several prestigious universities, West Virginia University with her BSN, Ohio State with her Master’s degree in nursing and she earned her PHD from UNC Chapel Hill in Public Health. Mrs. Scaggs spent her career in nursing with the VA hospital. She received a Presidential Award from President Carter for her contribution in the development of Peritoneal Dialysis in the VA hospitals.
Mrs. Scaggs was an avid quilter and seamstress. She loved to travel and enjoyed gambling.
Mrs. Scaggs was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Eliza Mae Casto, and her husband, William “Bill” Scaggs; and her brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Scaggs is survived by her sons, Mark Scaggs (Tracey) and their children, Jennifer Taylor (Eric), Jamie Scaggs, Julie Scaggs (Cory) and Joshua Scaggs (Victoria); Todd Scaggs, his children, Robert Taylor (Holli), Brittany Scaggs, Andrew Scaggs; daughter, Mica Williams and her daughter, Jessica Cafiero (Andree); her 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her brothers Norman Casto (Joyce) and Paul Casto (Brenda); and sister, Ruth Parsons (James).
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Moody.
