Asa Edward Hurst

DURHAM Mr. Asa Edward Hurst, 85, of Durham, died at UNC Hospital on Monday, May 7, 2012.Mr. Hurst was a native of Wake County, the son of the late William “Bill” Hurst and Daisy Maynard Hurst. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from the NC State Highway Department of Transportation. He was a member of Red Mountain Baptist Church in Rougemont. He was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Hurst.He is survived by his wife, Minnie Hurst; one son, Tyson Neil Hurst and wife, Gail of Durham; one daughter, Alice “Lucretia” Fletcher and husband, Michael of Roxboro; two brothers, Odell Hurst of Shallotte and Gerald Hurst of Lady Lakes, Fla.; grandson, Tyson Hurst and granddaughters, Dana Walker, Jessica Glenn and 7 great-grandchildren.A graveside service will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Red Mountain Baptist Church.
