Alma Jewel Tilley Overman

DURHAM Mrs. Alma Jewel Tilley Overman, 91, of Durham, died on Saturday, March 28, 2015.

Mrs. Overman was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Edward and Mamie Oakley Tilley. She retired after 18 years from RDU in Security. She was a member of the Old Fashion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, David “Jack” Overman, Sr.; son, Michael Overman; brother, Edward Tilley, Jr. and sisters, Mabel Carroll and Maggie Jackson.

She is survived by her son, Dave Overman and wife, Emily of Durham; sisters, Lottie McPherson and Gladys Hobbs both of Durham; three grandchildren, Tammy Vincent, Dawn Jackson and Mandy Overman; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Vincent, Kendall Vincent, Avery Jackson, Lydia Jackson and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Rev. Bill Lawrence will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tony Jackson, Jeff Vincent, Ricky Hobbs and Ron Carden.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 pm, prior to the service at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable.

The family would like to thank Denise and Ricky Hobbs for their love and care and a special thank you to her caretaker, Virginia Lawrence.
