Alice Spicer Canfield

Alice Spicer Canfield, 79, of Durham passed away on May 7, 2025, at Carver Living Center. Mrs. Canfield was born on February 8, 1946, in Durham, NC to the late Mervin and Margaret Harward Spicer.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Canfield is preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah Louise Pendergrass and son George Levi Canfield.

Mrs. Canfield is survived by her fiancé Marcos Velazquez of Durham, dear friends Joyce Gooch and Johnnie Parrish.

Alice was employed at Duke Hospital Radiology Department for 26 years. She attended Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. Alice enjoyed making crafts, especially at Christmas time for friends and coworkers. She enjoyed traveling to the mountains and the beach and visited Mexico.

A funeral service will be held Monday, May 12, 2025, at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Tony Gooch. A private burial will be held at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Alice’s family would like to thank the staff at Carver Living Center and Duke Hospice for caring for Alice during her illness.
