Peggy Barnes Becker

RALEIGH- Mrs. Peggy Barnes Becker, 89, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at her home.

Mrs. Becker was born June 22, 1932 to the late Russell and Bessie Barnes in Durham, NC. She was a Lab Technician with the EPA. Mrs. Becker enjoyed searching for books and selling them on Amazon. She loved food, especially chocolate ice cream. Mrs. Becker enjoyed helping others, especially her neighbors which she considered family. Mrs. Becker had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a smile. She loved her family dearly and will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Becker is preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Hank” J. Becker and son, Kenneth McDowell.

Mrs. Becker is survived by her son, Todd McDowell (Jackie) of Durham; daughters, Sharon M. Johnson (David) of Durham, NC, Jamie M. Reinhardt (Andy) of Raleigh; daughter-in-law, Beth McDowell of Durham; step-daughter, Belinda Maynard (Steve) of Florida; grandchildren, Scott Parrish (Kristin), Brooklyn Ladd (Kevin), Brandon McDowell (Casie), Colby Reinhardt, Amber Jones (Darius), Andy Jones, Corrine Stephenson (David), Sarah Turner and Emma Hinds; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Thompson and loving four legged companion, Bendi.

A special thanks to the caregivers in her final days.

A visitation will be held Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Clarence Parrish.
