Precious Dina & Family: We are praying fervently for you and your family in the homegoing of Bro. Merle. What a blessing to have known him. I (Pam) remember riding the school bus with him and Gerald - they were always so funny! We saw Merle at our church at the Fishers of Men when Tim Emory gave his testimony. It was so apparent that he loved the Lord supremely. Now Merle is walking by sight, face to face with Christ our wonderful Savior and Lord. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints" Psalm 116:15. May God's arms of grace & power sustain you these days ahead until we are all in heaven together with our Lord and loved ones. Won't it be wonderful there? Love, Prayers & Blessings, Van, Pam, Brice & Brooke Hursey/Psalm 23

Our thoughts prayers are with you. May the Lord wrap you in his arms today and always. Remember the good times you shared with Merle. I met Merle and Gerald at Kerr lake and at the Star Castle. Many years ago!! We would have been there Friday and Saturday, however, we have just heard of his passing. A mighty young man who loved his family so much :) It is so hard to believe. Keeping you in our prayers, Glenda & Rickey

To Dina and Family. Our heart goes out to you all. We are so sorry for your loss. May God our Heavenly Father wrape His strong loving arms around each of you. Try to remember this separation is only for a little while. One day soon, we will all be together again. Merle was a great guy. I use to call him "Huckleberry" because sometimes he would wear a long trench coat to church and it remind me of Doc Holliday. He was a cool and well dressed cowboy. And that was Merle. So long Huckleberry. Till we meet again.

Gerald & Jill, I was stunned when I learned of Merle's passing away. I have been thinking of you and your family and saying many prayers asking for comfort to all of you in this terribly difficult time. Gerald, being a twin also, I cannot imagine the loss you are feeling. I'm so very sorry and, even though I did not know him well, I enjoyed the brief times I spent with him and the rest of your family. Sending many prayers and lots of love your way, Andrea

To the Knott family, my heartfelt prayers and sincere condolences to you during this time of loss. I haven't seen Merle in many years, but when you go through school and graduate in the SHS Class of '78 together, there's always wonderful memories and a special connection felt. Merle's reputation of being a loving, giving person is well-known, but his greatest attribute is that of a born-again Christian. I pray this gives you peace and comfort knowing we will see him again one day.

Merle loved those boys and spent a lot of time helping them with their baseball skills and just spending time with them. We will surely be praying for your family and this sudden loss. May the Lord that Merle knew comfort you during this difficult time. With love, Sid, Terry, and Andrew Chambers

To Merle's family: in my opinion, he was one of the best friends I've ever had. A person I'd call a true friend. You could ask Merle a question about most anything, and he'd give you his honest opinion. Sometimes I asked Merle too many questions and he still would take time to give me his opinion. I considered him my true friend and he will be very missed. I'm sure we'll all be together one of these days up in heaven.

Words seem so inadequate to express the ache in my heart for the sudden loss you are experiencing. My prayer is that God will surround each one of you with His undeniable presence as you walk this journey of grief. I also pray that the memories you hold in your heart of your life with Merle will continue to bring a smile to your face when all you want to do is cry. You can be comforted in the fact that a community of friends mourns his loss with you and his life touched numerous people through the years. We may never understand this side of heaven why Merle was taken so abruptly but we can rest in the promise that we WILL be with him one day for eternity and will never feel this sting of death again. Much love to all of you and remember you are not alone.
