Marvin Sam “Boy” Carpenter

DURHAM Mr. Marvin Sam “Boy” Carpenter, 80, of Baptist Road, died on Saturday, August 16, 2014.
Mr. Carpenter was born in Wake Forest to the late Sam and Annie Pearl Carpenter. He retired from Murdoch Developmental Center. He attended Roberson Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by stepmom, Ronnie Mae, his son, Craig Carpenter and sisters, Pearl Godfrey, Bootie Carpenter, Betty Gibson and Brenda Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Lou Cash Carpenter; son, Mark Carpenter and wife, Karen; granddaughter, Crystal Berry and husband, Chris; grandsons, Randall Ragan and Grayson Carpenter; great-grandson, Cody Berry and special daughter, Terri Ragan and husband, Mark. He is also survived by his siblings, John, William, Buck, Jimmy, Ricky, Rooster and Roy Carpenter, Carolyn Lee, Barbara Tant, Deborah Sherron, Mary Jane Carpenter, Rose Steward .
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Pastor Donnie Cash and Pastor Jack O’Neal will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Grayson Carpenter, Rodney Pennington, Randall Ragan, Mark Ragan, Chris Cash and Tony Carter.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
