James Alfred Keith

DURHAM Mr. James Alfred Keith, 68, of 2810 Shaw Road, died at his home on Thursday, April 10, 2014.
Mr. Keith was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Nulushious Keith and Mary Jane Woods Keith. He served in the U. S. Army National Guard. He retired from GTE in 1997 as a switchman. Mr. Keith was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Creedmoor, where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Adult III Sunday School Class. He loved to fish and was a member of the Catch’n Crappie Club and the Redwood Ruritan Club. He also enjoyed billiards, bowling and softball.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Mary Ann Shaw Keith; four sons, Jimmy Keith, Christopher Keith and Jeff Bailey all of Durham and Rick Bailey of Bullock; three sisters, Doris K. Scoggins, Merita Shambley and Evelyn Overcash all of Durham; three grandchildren, Justin R. Keith, Caleb R. Keith and Zachery Bailey.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Creedmoor. Rev. Tom Lamm will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Christopher Keith, Jimmy Keith, Justin Keith, Brad King, Zachery Bailey, Kenny Glenn and Wynn Whellis. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Redwood Ruritan Club and the Adult III Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 2810 Shaw Road. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church, 1512, Beaver Dam Road, Creedmoor, NC 27522.
