Inez Jarrell Merritt

DURHAM Mrs. Inez Jarrell Merritt, 90, of 2724 Cooksbury Drive, died Thursday, February 26, 2015, following a short decline in health. She retired from Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company in 1985, following 40 years of employment.

She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Wayne Merritt, and her husband, Leroy Merritt, married for 57 years. She is survived by two sons, Randy Lee Merritt of Birmingham, Alabama, and Jerry Thomas Merritt of Raleigh; one brother, Lloyd Jarrell, two sisters, Mary Hoffman and Vicki Coggins; three grandchildren, Michael Merritt, Melissa Ruth, and Emily Merritt, and three great-grandchildren, Lydia Ruth, Edwin Ruth III and Riley Ruth.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd, Durham, NC with Pastor Dale Brooks officiating. Visitation will be held from 12-2 PM prior to the funeral. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
