Gary Edward Henson

DURHAM Mr. Gary Edward Henson, 62 of Durham, died on Tuesday, August 25, 2015.

Mr. Henson was born in Streator, Ill., to the late Edward Simeon Henson and Lucy Myer Henson. He retired from Sumitomo Electric in RTP. He loved to play cards, fish and go on his favorite trips to Atlantic City. He was an avid Duke fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Smith Henson; brother, Ricky Henson and a sister, Nancy Wargo. Gary always had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved joking with everyone and loved his Oak Grove community family.

He is survived by his step-daughter, Kimberly R. Peterson of Hillsborough; brother, David Henson of Alton, Ill; sisters, Donna Ivesdal of Asheville, NC and Roxane OBrian of Franklinton, NC; granddaughter, Jordan Baines and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews who adored him.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Dr. Rick Finley will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home.  Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to a charity of choice. Online condolences may be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
